The Kettle Black (“The Kettle Black”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a studio operated by Angad Ahluwalia, based in Bengaluru, India, building AI software, applications and enterprise products. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It also sets out, in plain terms, how we handle data accessed through Google APIs.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to our website at thekettleblack.in and to the applications we operate, including our internal control-centre platform and the Enable AI workshop tools. Client engagements are also governed by the separate written agreement for that engagement; where that agreement differs from this policy for a client’s own data, the agreement governs.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and enquiries — when you use a form or email us, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if provided) and the content of your message.
- Workshop intake — for Enable AI sessions, participants may submit their name, email, the subject or role they want help with, and voice or typed answers, so we can prepare for the session. This is used only to run that session.
Information from connected Google accounts
Our platform lets an authorised operator connect a Google account so the app can assist with that account’s own work — for example, reading a business inbox to surface vendor bills and invoices, matching client correspondence to records, and syncing meetings. When an account is connected, we request only the scopes needed for those features (for example, read-only access to Gmail, and optionally read-only Calendar and Drive). Access is granted by the account owner through Google’s own consent screen and can be revoked at any time.
Information collected automatically
- Standard server logs and basic, privacy-respecting analytics (such as pages visited and approximate region), used to keep the site secure and understand what is useful.
How we use Google user data
When you connect a Google account, we use the data strictly to provide the features you enabled — nothing else:
- Reading messages, calendar events or files read-only, to surface bills and invoices, match correspondence to the right client or vendor, and reflect meetings in your records.
- We do not use Google user data for advertising.
- We do not sell Google user data, and we do not transfer it to others except as necessary to provide a feature you requested, with your consent, or where required by law.
- We do not use Google user data to train generalised AI or machine-learning models.
- No human reads your Google user data except where you give consent for support, where it is necessary for security or to comply with the law, or in aggregated/anonymised form for internal operations permitted by policy.
Limited Use. The Kettle Black’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How we use other information
- To respond to your enquiries and provide the services you ask for.
- To operate, secure, maintain and improve the website and our applications.
- To meet legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.
Storage and security
Our applications run on Google Cloud infrastructure. Access tokens for connected accounts are stored encrypted, and access to data is restricted to what is needed to run the service. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Sharing
We do not sell your information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the service (for example, cloud hosting, email delivery, and AI providers used to process an operator’s own data on their instruction), each bound to appropriate confidentiality and data-protection terms, and with authorities where required by law.
Data retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal obligations. Data from a connected Google account is retained only while the account is connected; when you disconnect it, or ask us to delete it, we remove the stored data and tokens for that account within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records to comply with the law.
Your choices and rights
- You can revoke our access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you.
- You can unsubscribe from any non-essential communication.
To exercise any of these, email us at hi@thekettleblack.in.
Children
Our website and services are not directed at children. Where a workshop involves students, intake information is collected under arrangement with the school and used solely to run that session.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version here and update the date above.
